RULES FOR HUMANS

Escape your normal schedule of daily walks, chasing the mailman and chewing on shoes for a new adventure in Western North Carolina. Breathe in the scenic beauty as you relax by the pond, get pampered by your human at the doggy spa, race against your friends in our agility park, or just spend some quality time with your human companions. No matter what activity you choose, we promise you a one of a kind experience in a campground and retreat dedicated just to you.

DOG RULES

  • Rules of Play for Our Canine Guests
  • 1. Canine Guests Must be Leashed Any Time Outside a Designated Off-Leash Area a. Designated off-leash areas include all dog campground dog parks, fenced areas at Premium/Deluxe sites and rental units, and secure X-Pens set up at individual sites.b. “Leashed” means hard-restraint. Radio collars or voice control is not considered “leashed”.’ c. Leashes must be 6 feet or less. If extendable leashes are used, they must be kept to 6 feet to assure all interactions are under control.
  • 2. Clean Up Solid Waste Immediately a. Solid waste must be picked up in all areas of the campground immediately after deposit including in all off-leash areas, natural areas, and hiking trails (this includes the private yard at your site or rental unit). b. Waste stations are conveniently located throughout the campground to facilitate cleanup.
  • 3. Up to Date Shot Records Required Prior to Arrival a. All dogs must be healthy and have current rabies vaccinations on file in the TH campground office. b. Additional vaccinations recommended by your veterinarian, including flea and tick control, is encouraged. c. Puppies under 4 months of age are prohibited from any dog park. Interactions with other dogs prior to completing initial puppy shots is not advisable.
  • 4. Off-Leash Does Not Mean Out of Control a. Canine guests may never be left unattended in any off-leash area. Humans must be within view and voice control of their dog(s) at all times (preferably with leash in hand). b. Leashed dogs are not permitted in off-leash areas with other dogs. Remove your dog’s leash after passing through the entry gate and within the entry channel system. c. Dogs presenting ANY aggressive behavior must be immediately leashed and removed from the off-leash area. Rough play should be treated as aggressive behavior and stopped immediately.
  • 5. Aggressive Behavior is Not Permitted on Any TH Premises a. Regardless of the dog’s size, aggressive behavior is strictly forbidden on any TH premises. b. Aggression includes (but is not limited to) growling or snarling, posturing, biting or nipping, baring teeth, or lunging. Any aggressive behavior toward humans or other dogs must be immediately addressed.
  • 6. Nuisance Barking Not Allowed in Any Area of the Campground a. Excessive/continuous barking must be addressed immediately. Greeting barking is understood but must not be allowed to continue beyond a reasonable duration. b. If canine guests are to be left unattended in an RV or rental unit, a contact number must be left with the campground office in the event barking becomes an issue.
  • 7. Other Considerations a. Females in heat are limited to the Private Dog Park for their off-leash experience. Exercise caution before taking intact male dogs in dog parks to prevent unwanted interactions (the Private Dog Park is available for all non-neutered dogs, if needed). b. No human food or dog treats are allowed in the dog park while other dogs are also in the park. Glass containers are prohibited in any dog park. Smoking is prohibited in any dog park. c. Owners must stop their dogs from digging and immediately fill any holes. Rules of Play for Our Human Guests
  • 1. Age Restriction a. All humans in the campground (campers, visitors, and guests) must be at least 18 years old. b. Proof of age may be requested if questions arise.
  • 2. Visitors and Guests a. Notify the office if you are expecting additional guests and visitors. All guests and visitors must register in the campground office upon arrival. b. Guests and visitors must comply with all campground Rules of Play.
  • 3. Peace and Quiet a. Quiet time is strictly enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM b. All campfires must be out by 10:00 PM c. Excessive noise extending beyond your site at any time is not allowed
  • 4. Campfire Safety a. Campfires are permitted in approved fire rings only. b. Fires may never be left unattended. c. All campfires must be out by 10:00 PM.
  • 5. Smoking a. Cigarette smoking and vaping are allowed at your campsite (or outside your rental unit) and in designated smoking areas. b. Cigars and pipes are not allowed to be smoked outside of your own site. c. Smoking in any rental unit is prohibited. A $250 fumigation fee will be charged for smoking in a rental unit. d. Smoking is not permitted in any dog park.
  • 6. General Safety and Releases a. Human guests assume responsibility for themselves and their canine(s) for all activities in the pond, creek, or dog parks. b. Human guests understand the inherent risks associated with camping in the great outdoors and assume all responsibilities for those risks to themselves and their canine(s). c. Human guests consent that photos and videos of them and/or their canine(s) taken on campground property may be used in advertising and promotional materials.
  • 7. Late Checkout a. Each request for late checkout must be made in advance and will be granted on a case-by-case basis based on campground availability. b. Additional fees may apply.
  • 8. Other Considerations a. No personal golf carts, scooters or ATVs are allowed. b. While we respect your right to own and carry a firearm in your RV or other vehicle, it is not allowed to be in view at any time in the campground. Any open display of a firearm outside of your own RV or vehicle will result in immediate expulsion from the campground by the local sheriff’s department. c. No fireworks of any kind are allowed at any time.
